The Eating Place market was introduced to the city centre for the first time in May 2006, as a way to mark the opening of the newly revamped and pedestrianised Castle Street, and increase the vitality of this key area in the heart of the capital.

Taking place on the last Thursday of every month from 12pm to 6pm, the market exists to enhance the city centre experience for lunch time and late night shoppers and to complement the street working hours.

The market aims to introduce the Edinburgh public to some of the best produce from the city region, but not just produce that is Scottish in origin. It is hoped the market will continue to grow to reflect the rich cultural diversity of our region and provide a new access point to Edinburgh’s food and drink scene.
